Check these 3 access points to protect your business against fraud and identity security risks
1. Review authorisations in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)
If you’re a principal authority or authorisation administrator for a business, use RAM to check which staff can act on behalf of the business. RAM is an authorisation service that allows you to access our online services on behalf of a business. Ensure the right people have the right level of access for their role and promptly update or remove access when roles change or staff leave.
2. Review permissions in Access Manager
Review which staff can perform sensitive tasks in Online services for business and the Australian Business Register (ABR) using Access Manager. Access Manager is used to manage which functions others can access on behalf of your business. It allows you to set what your staff can do in certain ATO services. This is different to RAM, which just allows you to set who can act on behalf of the business. If employees have access to secure information in ATO online services, use Access Manager to regularly review their permissions.
3. Keep your business details up to date on the Australian Business Register (ABR)
You must update your Australian business number (ABN) details on the ABR within 28 days of becoming aware of a change. It’s important to keep associates and contact details up to date. This helps prevent unauthorised access and ensures government agencies can provide timely, targeted support when needed.
Tip: Set a reminder to regularly check RAM, Access Manager and the ABR, to help keep your business secure and compliant.
