Meet Jo McClure from JM Virtual Business Services

Jo McClure is the founder of JM Virtual Business Services, a business helping clients across Australia get on top of admin through virtual reception, CRM implementation, accounts support and smarter systems.

Dare has been working with Jo for the past two years, supporting her with compliance and BAS so she can stay focused on running and growing the business. When did your business start?

I started JM Virtual Business Services back in 2018 with the simple goal of giving business owners their time back. What began as a virtual business services business has grown into a multi-disciplinary firm working across business process outsourcing and IT software implementation. We’re based in Point Cook, Victoria, but support clients right across Australia. Between our team, we bring over 100 years of combined experience, which means our clients get practical support from people who’ve been there and done it.

What does JMVBS do?

In short, we help businesses get out of admin overwhelm. We provide Australian-based virtual reception, CRM implementation and support (we’re certified partners with Zoho One, Monday.com, Zoho FSM and Clevero), as well as accounts management, social media support, website builds and project management. Most of our clients started their businesses to do what they’re good at and not to spend nights buried in admin, so we step in behind the scenes to make everything run more smoothly.

What is the biggest challenge in your business/industry right now?

The pace of change, especially with AI, is huge. We operate across both outsourcing and IT software, and both are evolving fast. A lot of business owners know AI is important, but they’re not sure what it means for them or where to start. At the same time, the traditional outsourcing model is changing because clients want smarter systems, not just extra hands. Keeping up with that change and helping our clients make sense of it is our biggest challenge (and opportunity) right now.

Where do you see your business and the industry heading?

I see the industry becoming far more automated. Instead of just outsourcing tasks, businesses will engage providers like us to design and implement automated systems and processes for them. That’s already happening in our business. We’re not being replaced by automation, we’re building it. Our role is shifting towards creating the systems, workflows and AI-powered tools that help our clients scale without increasing their admin load.

How long have you been working with Dare Accounting?

We’ve been working with Dare Accounting for almost two years now, and it’s been a genuinely positive partnership for our business. I’m on a monthly arrangement with Dare, which helps me stay on top of cash flow and compliance. It’s reassuring to know my accountant is always just a phone call or email away.

How is Dare Accounting different from other accounting firms?

They’re proactive and always one step ahead. We don’t have to chase them, deadlines don’t get missed, and they always answer the phone. In an industry where it can sometimes feel hard to even get a response, that level of reliability makes a massive difference. When you’re running a business across two fast-moving industries, having an accounting partner who just gets things done is invaluable.

What are the main areas where Dare Accounting has helped you the most?

Compliance and BAS have been the biggest areas of support for us. Those things can quietly become a huge time and stress drain if you’re not on top of them. Knowing they’re being handled properly and proactively has freed up my headspace to focus on growing the business and looking after our clients.
