Dare Accounting – giving our time and expertise to help others

With a generous spirit and strong sense of social responsibility, Michael has always believed that if you are able to give your time, expertise or money to support others, you should.

This belief inspired our new name and brand, with the ancient Latin meaning of ‘dare’ being to give and devote oneself to a cause or pursuit. You see, over the course of his life, Michael’s altruistic nature has led him to volunteer and donate his time and expertise to many different causes and organisations. He has and continues to do this in many different ways.

Donating our time and expertise

Nowadays, Michael and the team at Dare Accounting donate their time and expertise to a variety of causes and organisations, including:

The Fellow Foundation

The Fellow Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works to inspire a sense of positive masculinity in the next generation of Australian men. With a focus on outdoor programs, resilience training and Bush Adventure Therapies (BAT), the Foundation raises funds to provide critical access to effective and dynamic programs that help support and guide men and boys in becoming courageous, optimistic, grounded leaders within our businesses and communities.

Stop Stalking Now Foundation

Michael is a both a Director and the Treasurer of the Stop Stalking Now Foundation. It aims to stop stalking, which is often a precursor to physical violence, by building awareness and understanding, changing behaviours and attitudes towards stalking, and providing safe spaces, refuge and support to victims.

Full Circle Therapies Inc

We donate our time and professional services to Full Circle Therapies Inc., a not-for-profit paediatric allied health therapy centre based in Kalgoorlie. With a team of allied health practitioners that include Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Psychologists, it relies on donations and grants to deliver a variety of much-needed services to local families that include individual and group therapy, playgroups, parent workshops and family support.

Gippsland Farmers Relief Fund

Established during the Covid lockdowns, the Gippsland Farmers Relief Fund raised money to provide desperately needed food aid and relief to farmers in the region. To support it in its endeavours, we provided our services free of charge to the organisation while it was in operation.

Giving back to our profession

As part of our commitment to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards of our profession, Michael has been a member of the Chartered Accountants Professional Conduct Committee for three years. The committee is responsible for determining whether and what sanctions are appropriate, based on the investigation performed by the organisation when a complaint is made about a member.
