Meet Kelly from Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic

About Kelly

Throughout my veterinary career, I have always been committed to providing the best possible care for animals. But for years, I felt something was missing—until a personal experience changed everything.

When my daughter faced health challenges that conventional medicine couldn’t resolve, I turned to natural therapies and nutrition. The results were life-changing. She regained her health, her energy, and her joy. That’s when I realised this holistic approach was severely lacking in veterinary medicine.

Determined to fill this gap, I founded Bentons Road Vet Clinic—a place where modern medicine and natural therapies come together to create true wellness for pets. Here, we don’t just treat disease; we focus on helping pets thrive. When you work with us, you’re not just giving your pet the best care—you’re giving them the best life.

When did your business start?

We opened our clinic just under 10 years ago – starting from scratch with one vet (Dr Kelly) working six days a week. We bought a local residential property in Mount Martha, transformed it into a small animal clinic, and opened the doors to our very first patients. Since then, the clinic has grown into a trusted practice on the Mornington Peninsula, recognised for combining conventional veterinary care with natural, preventative therapies. Clients now travel from all parts of Victoria – including from the CBD, Warrnambool, Phillip Island and Gippsland to see us, and we also support interstate clients via telemedicine.

What is the biggest challenge in your business/industry currently?

Attracting the right team members is one of the ongoing challenges – particularly clinicians who share our integrative approach and are open to working outside of metropolitan areas. Another common challenge across the industry is the rising cost of delivering quality care. We understand that veterinary fees can sometimes feel unexpected, especially when compared to human healthcare that is covered by Medicare. It’s part of our role to guide and support our clients through these differences, helping them understand what goes into providing the best possible care for their pets. Education, empathy, and transparency are at the heart of those conversations.

Where do you see your business/industry heading in the next few years?

We see a growing shift towards proactive, preventative healthcare for pets. More and more pet owners are seeking support with nutrition, natural therapies, and physical rehabilitation – not just to treat illness, but to maintain long-term health. To support this evolution, we’re planning to build a purpose-designed veterinary hospital that will help us expand our services and continue to provide exceptional care for pets and their families across the Mornington Peninsula.

How long have you been working with MJAA?

We began working with MJAA at the start of this calendar year. It’s a new partnership, but one that has already made a meaningful difference to our business.

How is MJAA different from other accounting firms?

MJAA have been extremely proactive – identifying areas within our business structures that needed attention, and presenting a clear, practical plan to address them. Their forward-thinking advice has helped us feel more confident as we plan for growth and future opportunities.

What are the main pain points in your business where MJAA has helped you prosper?

They’ve helped us better understand our risk exposure and guided us through restructuring to ensure we’re protected. Just as importantly, they’ve provided valuable insights into how we can build and preserve wealth in the most sustainable way moving forward.

We’re incredibly excited to be celebrating 10 years of Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic this April! It’s a big milestone that reflects a decade of commitment to integrative pet care, community connection, and continuous learning. From a single vet with a dream, to a growing team in a thriving integrative clinic, it’s been quite a journey… and we’re just getting started!
